Rehearsal of arias and duets (including Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata: Act I, Sempre Libre, with Ross Halper and Eliza O'Malley), quicky meeting with Eliza and Lars thereafter,


followed by local pub with Harriet and home for 19 more pages of Israel in Trouble (VII. How to Depart from You) orchestration -- with aspects of Camille Saint-Saens's Carnival of the Animals: Finale, Alban Berg's Wozzeck: Act III conclusion, and Michael Nyman's The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.

June 22 - Singing Byrds of a Feather

Byrd is the word (Renaissance William's Sanctus from the Mass for Four Voices) at St. Gregory's today in SF today, then To Everything There Is an Audition at Chamber Arts for Goat Hall San Francisco Cabaret Opera auditions with

Lots of wonderful singing -- from auditionees Suzanna, Alix, Jillian Boye, Sasha Joggerst (Tiger Brown down in Santa Cruz, as noted a while back), Erin Lahm, Allison Collins, Annemarie Ballinger, Robin Hansen, Ayelet Cohen, Elizabeth Russ (Polly Peachum in same), and Shauna Fallihee -- and more next week at the same time, as we begin casting for



Mice and Men (Act V, Scene 2 B page 6 prepared for publication, incidentally)

The Countess Cathleen, and fine works by the likes of Henry Purcell, Peter Josheff, and others.

April 26 - Variations on Americans

More exciting encounters, preparing for publication first eight pages of section 4 Variations on Americana (Spacious Skies , Green with a Touch of Amber Waves, Purple Twin Sisters Mountains Majesty Above a Fluted Suisun Plain from yesterday's Cordelia Turtleback Escape trip),


then Harriet and I rendezvous with Tisha at Oakland Marriot for a brewpub calimari and tostada dinner before a Works-In-Progress show at Chamber Arts, run by Eliza O'Malley,


with Alex Katzman and Alix Jerinic warming up,


as T and H gaze attentively,


as do (less attentively) friend-of -AJ, AJ, Deborah, and Meghan Dibble later on.


Whereafter Tisha takes the floor for German opera,


while Richard Mix looms ominously,


and sings marvelously during the show itself.


And speaking of marvelous, Harriet delivers her bang-up Old Lady's Tango (I Am Easily Assimilated) from Leonard Bernstein's Candide,


and I'm up for a piano-vocal of Sylvia Dryer from San Rafael News; home late finishing up business cards with above shots for Harriet and me.
