April 5 - Oh Hear and Taste

Harriet and I are back up Dry Creek Canyon in Napa today (at right in aerial) for another walk, then a wine tasting

near Yountville.

Previous to all of this, H sells and sings by far the best I Am Easily Assimilated from Leonard Bernstein's Candide that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing and hearing as part of a local mixed recital put on by Elaine Reynolds-Smith of Solano College.

Before and after, writing up Bernstein and John Cage at markalburgermusichistory.blogspot.com and beginning the Alleluia section of Genre Implosions No. 1 ("Mass Confusion"). We also listen to Igor Stravinsky The Flood and my Noah's Flood ("Noah! Noah!"), plus three Gustav Mahler Symphonies (4,6, and 9), Bela Bartok Divertimento and Romanian Rhapsodies, and Medieval music in renditions by the Dufay Collective (enlightening re the various French 1200's and English and Italian 1300's dances).
